This balaclava is built from classic crochet language, reinterpreted through rhythm, touch, and detail.

The surface is composed of traditional granny motifs, allowing repetition to create calm and familiarity. Within this recognisable structure, subtle variations emerge — in tension, alignment, and colour — giving the piece its lived, handmade presence.

Small acrylic & glass beads are worked directly into selected areas of the surface. They appear quietly, almost unexpectedly, introducing light, texture, and a tactile contrast to the softness of the yarn. The beadwork does not decorate the piece; it punctuates it.

The face and neck openings are hand-knitted, creating flexible edges that soften the geometry and allow the balaclava to sit comfortably on the body. These transitions — between crochet and knit, surface and opening — are where the piece finds its balance.

Simple in construction, deliberate in finishing, this balaclava embraces ease without losing intention. It is a wearable object shaped by hand, meant to be lived in rather than observed from a distance.
